The Opportunities & Threats Presented By Modern Day Technology

Over the past thirty years the human race has managed to achieve more than it did in nearly two thousand. We came from using horses as a means of transport to flying space shuttles to the moon and from writing letters to communicate with people overseas to instant split-second messaging. In this time we shifted from using technology a tool to needing technology to live. Throughout this essay I will be discussing a few of the technological phenomenons that were introduced in the twenty first century and affected us so drastically that they changed our way of behavior as a species. When radio and television came about, they took the world by storm and introduced the concept of mass media to the world. The majority of people probably did not expect these phenomenons to be replaced just a few decades down the line by a far more superior medium to reach the masses. This of course, being the internet. The idea of the internet came about with the creation of electronic computers i...

Manchester Is Blue

The first match-up between the two Manchester clubs results in a thrilling 1-2 victory for Manchester City on Sunday evening. Despite playing at Old Trafford, Mourinho's men failed to stop their super in-form rivals, leaving United trailing the league leaders by an 11-point gap. Pep Guardiola's men out-played the Red Devils with their magnificent 'tiki-taka' style of play, just as they've done with every team in the league they've faced this season. This makes it 14 straight wins in the Premier League, just one away from breaking Arsenal's 2004 record. Some might even say that this victory may have City heading to an early coronation.  This result comes as no surprise. Manchester City have been the top dogs this season for quite a while now. They've scored a massive 52 goals in 17 games, only conceding 11 in the process. When comparing it to Manchester United's total 37 goals it's not very hard to predict the outcome of this match-up. 'Big Sam' Appointed Everton Manager After 4-0 Victory

Sam Allardyce (better known as 'Big Sam') has been appointed Everton manager today in hopes of saving what's left of the club's season. This was announced just one day after Everton's 4-0 thrashing of bottom-side West Ham , which Big Sam watched from the stands. The 63-year-old has signed a deal until the end of June 2019. Everton are on the worst run of form since 1984 this season. They've been abysmal since the  sacking of former manager Ronald Koeman more than 5 weeks ago, failing to get any points in both the domestic and European scenes. Considering the team they have mustered over the summer, spending a total of fifty four million pounds, and signing the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jordan Pickford, and Wayne Rooney, the bottom quarter of the table is the last place you would expect Everton to place this season.   Although claiming to have 'no interest' in managing another club, Allardyce will take over from temporary caretaker David Unswor...

Super Scandinavians Qualify Over Incompetent Italy

For the first time since 1958 the Italian National football team has failed to qualify for the World Cup. After the poor show Italy gave us on the Scandinavian's home turf, everyone expected the four-time world champions to walk all over Sweden at home, but the match lacked goals and entertainment in general. The stale-mate match saw Sweden qualify to the World Cup finals taking place in Russia next summer, whilst Italy's path to glory came to a sudden stop. The Italians never had it easy being drawn into the same group as former back-to-back Euro-World Cup winners Spain for the qualifying rounds, but anybody with any slight familiarization with the sport know that Italy are top dogs.  Italian manager Gian Piero Ventura has been sacked following the match, but the most tragic tales that resulted from this were the early retirements of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and midfielder Daniele De Rossi. The combined appearances of these two Italian icons tally up to a wh...
